Meep

There is something going on right now in the interwebs, that I don't know if you've heard about or not. Basically this group of kids formed a facebook group or something and got all the students in their high school class to agree to just say "meep" over and over again in school. The principal found it before hand and I guess he is some kind of fascist. He called all the parents of the people participating and said that if their child said "meep" they would be suspended.

Ok, dude. Really? I'll bet the parents were even laughing at his message. So the kids did what any self respecting person would do if they had the power of the interwebs in High School: They made the news viral. I've seen the story on like 10 sites now. I even sent an one word email to the principal, assistant principal, and the supervisor - along with what I can only assume is at least a few million other people. People are mailing post cards and calling too.

Here is a little quip from a lawyer in NYC about what happened. You really should read it. This story just has that "it" factor. Someone submitted it to Digg, which I don't know if you know the demographic of digg readers but they are people with means, time, and they are all SUPER creative. This school is in for a treat on Monday and I hope Rachael covers it. I think she will.

US Army Sends Infant to Protective Services, Mom to Afghanistan

“Hutchinson, of Oakland, California, is currently being confined at Hunter Army Airfield near Savannah, Georgia, after being arrested. Her son was placed into a county foster care system.

Hutchinson has been threatened with a court martial if she does not agree to deploy to Afghanistan on Sunday, Nov. 15. She has been attempting to find someone to take care of her child, Kamani, while she is deployed overseas, but to no avail.”

The military treats service members like crap and here is another story to prove it. Of course it would have been better had this woman not had the child but who is to say the what and why of her situation.

I wonder how much the child is costing the taxpayers by being in protective service.

Rumors

There seems to be some very elaborate rumors or a real leak that after the Larry King incident 30 more pornographic photos and 7 more sex tapes have been found of that beauty queen. This post is really interesting because it breaks down all that has happenned since she answer the "opposite marriage" question. It takes quotes directly from her book, like her stance on how dirty porn is - Despite the fact that she was watching hardcore kinky porn WHILE she was filming her own sex tape. It also shows what her traditional conservative family looks like. They show photos of her and her brother, that you just have to see to believe. I would say that the new sex stuff is real bc this is so detailed, but I don't know the website.

Evan Bayh

I just saw that Evan Bayh is polling higher than Obama in Indiana. Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME?! I live in the electric blue part of the state, so I don't think it holds true here. Still. The snip it after the link talks about how he has a 13 million dollar campaign account just collecting interest right now.

I HATE this man with every fiber in my boy.

Radiation in Kazakhstan

These are some of the saddest photos you'll ever see. The baby in the first picture looks like a baby that was in my family in the 20's. I think it lived to be like 5 years old. They had to pull it around in a wagon so it didn't break its neck. Its head was huge.

"Cosmos"

I've frequently mentioned Dr. Carl Sagan and the marvelous series he did for Public TV in the early 80s named "Cosmos." The entire series was amazing with its special effects. That, combined with the marvelous music of Vangelis, was a truly "complete" package that stimulated all of one's senses and imagination. The theme music was particularly captivating.

Imagine, if you will, travelling with Dr. Carl Sagan on the "ship of imagination" through time and space as you watch this (that helps put it into his perspective).

Here is a link (copy and paste) to the opening/closing segment and the music. It reeks out being in the outer reaches of space in a ship travelling at nearly the speed of light - at least it does to me.

Here is the main "theme" opening and closing music:

And here is a longer compilation of the music from the entire series:

Finally, a segment with narration from the series by Dr. Sagan:

I hope you will find this intellectually and emotionally stimulating and moving as I still continue to 30 years later - even while "straight."

5 am

It's 5 am and I was just sitting outside under the stars and just chilling. Every once and a while I just like to chill with some of what I call "real music" and drink some wine or look at the stars - or just sit in the dark. I thought I would share a song I love with you that I was listening to tonight. It's piano jazz, so if you are into that kind of thing maybe you'll like it. Madeleine Peroux has a smooth and fuzzy voice and she is just adorable. If you give it a try, let me know what you think.

This one is like folk music but the same kind of chill mood. It is actually similar to Paul Simon sort of, but more contemporary. I think Lisa will like this one. It is really emotional and the affect on me from this song reminds me of the kind of personality that seems to come from Lisa. Very caring, loving, emotional, and honest. I'm just trying to say that the beauty of this song reminds me of Lisa. :-) Happy Sunday.
